Lower fasting insulin with marijuana use
Analysing data from 4600 people in a national US survey, they showed those currently using marijuana had 16% lower fasting insulin levels and 17% lower HOMA-IR levels.
Marijuana use was associated with 1.63mg/L higher HDL-C levels but triglyceride and blood pressure levels were unrelated.
Marijuana use was also significantly associated with waist circumference, but, after adjusting results for BMI, the association between fasting insulin and insulin resistance remained significant.
