Lupus patient needs unmet in Australia

A systematic review of the management of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in Australia has revealed significant gaps in treatment knowledge and unmet needs of patients.

Current published guidance on SLE is both limited and dated, with the most recent guidelines dating back to 2007, according to the review of 18 studies led by Dr Mandana Nikpour from Melbourne University.

The guidelines do not always detail the complexities of SLE and standard have not been adapted for an Australian setting.
