Male anxiety linked to energy drink consumption
Perth researchers examined associations between frequency and quantity of intake of the caffeine-laced drinks and mental health indicators among about 500 males and 500 females aged 20 years in the Raine birth cohort.
Some 27% of men consumed energy drinks weekly and 3% daily. Those with the highest consumption had increased risk of anxiety but not depression symptoms.
No significant associations were found for women, who tended to drink lesser amounts.
