MBS review: end of the road for glucose challenge test?

The oral glucose challenge test in pregnancy should no longer attract a Medicare rebate, according to members of the endocrinology and pathology committees of the MBS Review Taskforce.

The challenge test (item 66545) “no longer has a place in practice”, as it has been superseded by the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), the reviewers said.
