Measles epidemic reflects poor vax coverage: NGO's

ALTHOUGH health authorities in Pakistan blame flooding for a measles epidemic in Sindh province, NGO workers say it reflects an inadequate and incomplete vaccination program.

Last year there were 14,000 measles cases and 210 deaths in the area compared to 4000 cases and 28 deaths in 2011. Polio cases are also rising against a background of fatal attacks by Taliban suspects on vaccination workers.
