Meningitis most feared by parents

A survey of 150 GPs and 400 parents by Novartis found 75% of parents ranked it in their top three most concerning infectious diseases. But almost half were unaware there were different serotypes.

Professor Robert Booy, head of clinical research at the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance, expressed concern that 75% of parents thought meningococcal C vaccination protected against group B strains.
