Missed cancer signs a 'wake-up call' for GPs
UP TO one in eight Australian patients who present to GPs with cancer red flags may not be investigated promptly or referred to specialists, new research suggests.
A study of 102 GPs who made clinical decisions based on 24 fictional video vignettes suggest some patients would have had delayed diagnosis and treatment, the researchers from the University of Notre Dame say.
“The study is a wake-up call to GPs in some respects,” says lead investigator Professor Moyez Jiwa, a GP and academic from the university’s Melbourne Clinical School. &ldquo
