More arthritis in stroke sufferers

People who have had a stroke are also more likely to suffer arthritis, a Canadian study shows.

In those who had a stroke, 53% reported arthritis, compared with 43% of matched controls, the Toronto-based researchers found.

They suggest an uneven gait following stroke could be behind the increased prevalence of arthritis, as seen in an earlier study on people with amputated lower limbs.
