Mortality down with annual checks

The University of Adelaide findings are at odds with a 2012 Cochrane review and paper published in the BMJ which concluded that general health checks failed to reduce mortality in adults.

But the researchers from the School of Population Health said previous studies did not differentiate between health checks conducted in general practice and other settings, such as pharmacies and the workplace.

Study lead Professor Nigel Stocks said the findings reflect the “comprehensive and ongoing” care GPs provide.
