Music may help in fibromyalgia

Listening to a CD of relaxing music twice daily may reduce the pain of fibromyalgia, Turkish research shows, while a German study suggests it may make patients feel more in control of their pain.

Twenty one patients with fibromyalgia, asked to sit quietly, relax and listen to a 25-minute CD twice daily, reported a reduction in their visual analogue pain scores from an average of 5.45 on day one to 4.14 on the 14th day of the trial: a statistically significant decline.
