Neurologic burden of West Nile virus underestimated

More than 37,000 cases have been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with about one in every 150 developing nervous system illness such as encephalitis or meningitis.

People aged older than 50 were more likely to develop severe neurologic disease, the researchers said.
