Neurologists baulk at discussing sudden unexpected death

Very few neurologists systematically discuss the possibility of sudden unexpected death (SUDEP) with their epilepsy patients, a North American study finds.

The survey of 1200 neurologists in Canada and the United States found that only seven percent discussed SUDEP with nearly all their patients.

Most discussed it with less than half their patients and one in seven neurologists never discussed SUDEP at all, the survey results showed.
