New call to take knee arthroscopy off the MBS

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care has backed calls by rheumatologists to remove knee arthroscopy from the MBS because of a lack of efficacy for the procedure.

The Commission made the recommendation in the latest Australian Atlas of Healthcare Variation published this week, which found 33,682 people aged 55 years and older were admitted for knee arthroscopies across Australia in 2012-2013.
