New prognostic ‘standard’ for follicular lymphoma

PET-CT (positron emission tomography/computed tomography) should be the new standard for assessing response in follicular lymphoma and could also help guide therapy, according to a study published in The Lancet Haematology.

The process is more accurate than CT imaging in mapping out the lymphoma, and better identifies patients who have a prolonged remission after treatment, says study leader Dr Judith Trotman, a clinical oncology researcher at the University of Sydney and Concord Hospital.
