New trigger identified

Researchers have identified a new cause of osteoarthritis through the discovery of high density mineralised protrusions (HDMP) that grind away healthy cartilage in human hip joints.  

HDMPs are usually found in horses but this is the first time researchers have discovered them in humans, according to a study published in the Journal of Anatomy.
