No protection for CV disease, cancer with vitamin E

The US Preventive Services Task Force published its final recommendations on use of multivitamins to protect against these diseases, saying new evidence on the use of vitamin E proved it lacked effectiveness.

After a systematic review, the taskforce said evidence was insufficient to assess the benefits of other supplements in healthy adults.

The expert body also found evidence confirming beta-carotene increased the risk of lung cancer in people at risk of the disease.
