NRL concussion doctor hangs up his boots
All sporting codes should agree on the same concussion guidelines, says Dr Ron Muratore, who is stepping down from his role as chief medical officer of the NRL.
“There should be a lot more discourse and consensus between different sports. The ideal would be for the NRL, AFL, rugby and soccer to all have the same guidelines,” says Dr Muratore, who emphases that he is not critical of any individual code.
He is proud of his influence on the NRL’s safety progress during his six years in the part-time position, particularly on the new concussion guidelines and the banning of the shoulder charge.
