NSAIDs reduce colorectal cancer risk

DAILY NSAID use significantly reduces the risk of colorectal cancer, a large Danish study finds.

While previous research has suggested the medication was beneficial in reducing colorectal cancer risk, a recent comprehensive review called for better clarity around the required dosage.

Analysing data from 10,000 patients with colorectal cancer and 101,000 matched controls, the study authors have shown that long-term, continuous use of low-dose aspirin and long-term use of non-aspirin NSAIDs are both associated with lower colorectal cancer risk.
