Nursing home pets spread more than joy

In April and June last year, there were two outbreaks of Campylobacter gastroenteritis in the aged care facility. 

After testing faecal samples, researchers found the culprit – a puppy that was living in the nursing home, presumably as part of a type of pet therapy. 

The authors reviewed the literature and found that puppies tend to shed Campylobacter species extensively.
