Oncology scoops $98m from NHMRC

Oncology research has received a major boost in the latest round of NHMRC grants, with more than $98 million going to 156 projects.

Oncology received 18% of the $540 million total. Cardiovascular disease received 15.3% ($82 million), diabetes 10% ($54 million) and mental health 7.1% ($38.5 million).

The top oncology grant went to Dr Oliver Sieber (pictured) from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research for research looking at novel drug combinations for metastatic colorectal cancer.
