One in five people with type 1 diabetes have severe hypos

Type 1 diabetes patients with impaired awareness of hypoglycaemia are significantly more likely to experience episodes of severe hypoglycaemia, Australian researchers have discovered.

Around a fifth of adult patients with type 1 diabetes had had an episode of severe hypoglycaemia (SH) in the past six months, data from over 420 patients at several Melbourne clinics showed, with an average of one SH event per year per person.
