Osteoporosis drug may work in RA

Denosumab combined with a biologic is effective in preventing bone erosion in rheumatoid arthritis, say Japanese researchers.

Their retrospective study looked at 40 patients treated with denosumab and a biologic, comparing them after 12 months’ therapy with a control group on biologics only.

Increases in modified Sharp erosion scores were considerably less in the denosumab group.
