Pack size a factor in antibiotic resistance
THE common mismatch between the recommended duration for antibiotic therapy and available pack sizes may help promote antibiotic resistance, an Australian study suggests.
Researchers analysed 32 common antibiotic prescribing scenarios encountered in general practice and compared the duration of treatment recommended by the electronic Therapeutic Guidelines (eTG) with the standard pack size dispensed by pharmacists.
