Pain linked to risk of suicide
The study in four million people from a veterans’ database showed back pain was associated with a 13% increased risk of suicide.
This risk was increased by 34% with migraine and 58% with psychogenic pain after controlling for age, sex, comorbidities and psychiatric diagnoses.
However, only 0.01% (4823)of the patients in the study committed suicide over the three years analysed.
