Paradox looms with lower risk of death for obese after ACS

The authors said the finding – based on BMI – added to the evidence for an ‘obesity paradox’ and meant no evidence existed to prove weight reduction had a “positive prognostic value after ACS”.

“Some evidence suggests that weight loss after ACS might, in fact, have a negative effect,” they said.
The study involved analysing data from more than 64,000 unselected patients in the Swedish Coronary Angiography and Angioplasty Registry.
Participants underwent coronary
