Parental immunisation confidence still high: survey
It found the rate of seasonal flu vaccine usage plummeted from 45.5% in 2009 to 7.9% in 2010 but increased again to 17.3% in 2011.
Most (85.5%) of the 212 parents who responded were aware the vaccination program was suspended in 2010. More than half said the suspension made them less likely to have their child vaccinated that year (55%) and in 2011 (60.6%).
However, the vast majority still agreed or strongly agreed that vaccination was a safe (95.2%) and effective (98.3%) way to prevent serious infectious disease in their child.
