Parkinsonism rates high in autism

Adults with autistic spectrum disorders (ASD) have much higher rates of Parkinsonism than in the general population, a small Australian study suggests.  

The study found 20% of adults aged 39 years and over with ASD met diagnostic criteria for Parkinsonism, based on a combined sample of over 50 patients who were not on neuroleptic medications.
