Patients often hospitalised after bariatric surgery

Nearly one-third of patients are hospitalised for medical, nutritional or surgical symptoms after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery, a Danish study has found.

This compares with just 6% for the comparison group, according to the study of 2238 patients who underwent RYGB surgery and 89 patients matched for sex and BMI.
