Patients receive no follow-up after suicide attempt: study

One third of people attending Australian hospitals after a suicide attempt were discharged without any mental health follow-up, a new study has found.

Describing the results as "alarming", lead researcher Dr Fiona Shand says about 60,000 people make a suicide attempt each year while more than 2500 die by suicide.
