PD patients benefit from the tango

Dance classes may improve motor skills in patients with mild or moderate Parkinson’s Disease (PD), according to UK and Australian researchers.

Their review, which included 13 studies, found improvements in balance, motor impairment and endurance, quality of life and participation in social activities following attendance of dance lessons.

Most studies suggest one-hour classes over ten to thirteen weeks are sufficiently effective, although they do not rule out greater improvements with longer courses.
