Phone coaching improves glycaemic control

Telephone coaching may help type 2 diabetes patients control their blood sugar, researchers say.

A telephone coaching intervention involving 94 adults with T2DM significantly improved HbA1C, fasting glucose, diastolic blood pressure, exercise and other areas, results of the Melbourne University study showed.

The effects were most noticeable in foot screening, with 90% of participants compliant compared with 63% of a control group at the end of the six month study published in the Internal Medical Journal.
