Plastic surgery shown to take nearly nine years off your life

The novel study quantifying perceptions of youthfulness also showed that the more procedures a patient has the younger they appear.

The research analysed perceptions of 60 patients who underwent ‘rejuvenating’ surgical procedures.

Before and after photos were rated by panels of 10 randomly selected volunteers who were all first-year medical students.

The authors, who were the plastic surgeons of the patients, said there were no consistent differences between the raters’ ability to perceive age correctly, and age estimates of the patients were consistent between raters.
