Pneumococcal vaccinations in elderly lagging

Researchers from the Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health (BEACH) Program analysed pneumococcal vaccination rates of 602 patients aged 70 or older during March­­–May 2011 and 617 patients aged 70 or older March–May 2012, covering the period before and after the policy change.

Prior to April 2011, patients older than 65 were eligible to receive a pneumococcal vaccination and a follow-up vaccination at the age of 70 through the National Immunisation Program (NIP).
