Polypill dream one step closer

The first randomised trial of an FDC including an antiplatelet, statin and two antihypertensives in 2000 patients showed improved treatment adherence by 33% compared with usual care, and reduced systolic blood pressure by 2.6mmHg and LDL cholesterol by 0.17mmol/L after 12 months.

The patients, from India, England, Ireland and the Netherlands, had established cardiovascular disease (CVD) or a five-year cardiovascular risk of 15% or more.
