Poor GDM outcomes even with early diagnosis

Women with early gestational diabetes have significantly poorer pregnancy outcomes even when treated from 12 weeks, according to Australian research.

The 20-year study looked at nearly 5,000 high-risk women attending an antenatal diabetes clinic at Sydney’s Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Pre-eclampsia, preterm delivery, caesarean section and neonatal jaundice were all more common in women diagnosed with GDM
