Poorer pregnancy outcomes in type 2 women

Women with type 2 diabetes are at a substantially higher risk of a range of adverse pregnancy outcomes compared with other women, an Australian study shows.

They have a four-fold risk of induction, double the likelihood of a caesarean birth and a threefold chance of preterm birth, according to data from nearly 200 pregnancies of type 2 women and 27,000 controls.
