Positive attitude may aid recovery after cruciate repair
La Trobe University researchers said the results of their case-control study of 187 competitive and recreational athletes undergoing ACL reconstruction underlined the importance of psychological attitude to physical recovery.
A year after the surgery, 31% of the footballers, basketballers, netballers and soccer players were playing at pre-injury level. A significant contributor to this outcome was found to be a positive attitude measured before their surgical procedure.
