Positive results from physical activity

The observational study in 65,000 people with type 2 diabetes showed HbA1c was lower in people aged 20–59 who exercised once or twice a week compared with those who were physically inactive, but did not differ with physical activity in those aged 60–80.

In contrast, diastolic blood pressure, total cholesterol and HDL were all lower in the group aged 60–80 who exercised once or twice a week, compared with those who were physically inactive.

These measures were not modified by physical activity in the group aged younger than 60.
