Pregabalin may be effective in IBS

Pregabalin helps ease pain in irritable bowel syndrome and may be an additional treatment option for patients, US researchers say.

The Mayo Clinic study found IBS patients taking pregabalin (Lyrica) had significantly less abdominal pain compared with placebo.

The neuropathic pain medication also lessened other IBS symptoms such bloating and diarrhoea, but didn’t improve constipation-related pain.
