Pregnancy still high with OTC emergency contraception

In a journal commentary, the doctors suggest the decline of emergency contraception management in general practice might have led to young women missing out on the provision of general contraceptive advice.

More research was needed to explain the paradox that there was high usage of reliable contraceptives and easy access to emergency contraception, yet the rate of abortion remained highest in women younger than 25, the authors said.
