Progesterone-receptor status predicts response to endometriosis treatment
Endometriosis patients' progesterone receptor (PR) status is "strongly associated" with their response to progestin-based treatment, new research shows.
"Receptor status in endometriosis could be used to tailor hormonal-based regimens after surgery, and negate trialling progestin-based therapy to determine resistance," Dr Valerie Flores of Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, USA and colleagues write. "Ascertainment of PR status may allow for a novel, targeted, precision approach to treating endometriosis."
