Psychiatrists push back at call for cuts to acute care

RANZCP has rejected a call for $1 billion in funding to be redirected from acute hospital care into community mental health care.

This follows the release of a mental health commission report that calls for $1 billion in Commonwealth funding to be redirected by 2022-2023, starting with $100 million from 2017-2018. This phased approach would allow states and territories to plan for system changes, it says.
