Psychiatry a new focus for deep brain stimulation

A leading expert in deep brain stimulation (DBS) says many of the new avenues for the technique are in the field of psychiatry.

“Obsessive compulsion disorder, dementia, depression and Tourette’s are all emerging indications,” says neurosurgeon Professor Joachim Krauss, who is based in Hannover in Germany and is the Vice-President of the World Society of Functional and Stereotactic Neurosurgery.
