Psyllium: an under-used supplement

Scientists at the School of Public Health, Curtin University, studied original articles on psyllium, which has advantages over other types of soluble fibre because it causes less abdominal bloating.

They found evidence that psyllium supplementation improves glucose levels and insulin res­ponse, blood pressure, vascular response and lipid profile, as well as a reported decrease in appetite in most studies.
