Push intensifies for no-fault vaccination compensation

An expert gathering at the University of Sydney yesterday was briefed on the operation of such a scheme in New Zealand, and the meeting resolved unanimously to push for Australia to follow suit.

University of Sydney professor of paediatric infectious diseases David Isaacs said it should be rolled out ahead of, or as part of, the federal government’s planned National Disability Insurance Scheme.
Such a move would also bring Australia into line with international best practice, boost public confidence in immunisation and address a common criticism from the anti-vaccination movement.
