RA patients at high risk of acute pancreatitis

Patients with RA have a higher risk of developing acute pancreatitis than those without the condition, Taiwanese researchers say.

Their study of over 140,000 people shows the incidence of acute pancreatitis is 185.7 per 100,000 person-years compared with 119 for those without RA. The risk is greater if patients are older, male or hospitalised for severe RA.

The risk appears to have increased over 2000-2011 study
