This rash in a toddler is self-limiting

Bruising on the penis and scrotum with large areas of skin haemorrhage elsewhere is initially a worrying presentation in a two-year-old. You might consider trauma, or a bleeding disorder, or leukaemia, or even meningococcaemia, but this child was well, afebrile and running around!

This is a condition called acute haemorrhagic oedema of infancy because they usually also have swelling of the hands and feet with large bruise-like lesions on the face and trunk.
