Reminders work in gestational diabetes

Patients with gestational diabetes are up to four times more likely to have a follow-up blood test if they receive a reminder in the post, a Cochrane review shows.

And it did not seem to make a difference if the reminder was sent to the patient, just the doctor, or to both parties, a review of the evidence showed.

However the authors from the Australian Research Centre for Health of Women and Babies at the University of Adelaide noted that the overall quality of evidence was low as only one randomised controlled trial met the criteria.
