Renal calculi linked to CHD

The study of almost 250,000 female health professionals across three cohorts, followed for a median of 8—10 years, showed kidney stones increased the risk of coronary heart disease by 18% in the Nurses’ Health Study I and by 48% in the Nurses’ Health Study II.

Pooled analysis showed kidney stones increased the risk of CHD by 30%, the risk of myocardial infarction by 26% and the risk of revascularisation by 30%.
