Researchers group gastric cancer into four sub-types

Researchers have grouped 295 samples of gastric cancer into four subtypes in an attempt to simplify the process of developing and testing new therapies.

Grouping the cancers in this way will help researchers enrol patients in clinical trials that target their particular stomach cancer,” says co-author Dr Adam Bass (pictured), from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

He and his colleagues describe the subtypes, which are based on shared mutations and molecular abnormalities, in a
